The President's Message from Donna Woodcome

Welcome prospective and existing members!
Hello from your new President. Hello! It has been a busy fall season for the Boston Chapter! In case you haven’t noticed on our website and email messages, the Boston Chapter was awarded Platinum status. This is the highest status that a chapter can receive and requires five years of Gold status achievement. Many thanks to all that have served on the board over the past several years and to our membership!! You have all contributed to this success!
In September, we ran a well-attended PDM on Supply Chain Careers. During October, we hosted NESCON, a collaborative event with the North and South Shore chapters of APICS, along with PMAB. Once again, the team did an outstanding job and attendance records were broken!! Also in October, Mark Chockalingam (Immediate Past President) and I attended the APICS International Conference in Pittsburg. Two of our Board members, David Jacoby and John Willi, presented educational sessions before standing room only groups. It was an excellent, educational and networking event, with over 2000 attendees, representing 40+ countries. Mark your calendars for 2012, when the conference will be held in Denver! On November 15th, we held a sold out plant tour at Madico. Thank you again to the Madico team for an excellent tour! Dave Rivers, our master certified instructor is conducting a CSCP class that will run for the next several weeks. Look for more educational events in the New Year.
6th Annual Holiday Networking Event:
The 6th Annual Holiday Networking event, which we host with the North and South Shore chapters of APICS and collaborate with CSCMP and PMAB, was a big success. Thank you to all of the sponsors and the attendees for your support. Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season!!
Best regards,
Donna Woodcome President@bostonapics.org
Boston APICS Chapter President 2011-2012
PS: We’re always looking for new members: bring a friend to our events. They’ll thank you.

I would like to bring to your attention useful member resources on the APICS website including:
1. Employment outlook which is published quarterly.
2. Supply Chain Manager Competency Model
Both resources are available on http://apics.org/resources. Nation wide job listings are available at the Apics career center.
Finally do you know that, as a member, you can request a paper copy of the OMBOK, the Operations Management Book of Knowledge? You can download a pdf copy for your ready reference and also request the book be mailed to you.
In closing
Boston Chapter of APICS has been associated with many successful professional events in the area. Our Holiday party jointly hosted with the North Shore and South Shore Chapters was a big success. I firmly believe that the supply chain profession is emerging as the most lucrative and rewarding career for aspiring professionals and Boston is leading the way in the North East!
If you run across a publicly available article that you think might be interesting for everyone, please let me know. Send us the link and we may put it on our home page for everyone else to enjoy. Thanks.
