APICS Northeast District Awards Students from Northeastern University with Prestigious Student Case Competition Award
Boston, MA (May 10, 010) – The Northeast District of APICS The Association for Operations Management, the global leader in operations and supply chain management education, certification, and membership, today announced the winners of its second annual APICS Northeast District Student Case Competition organized by the Boston Chapters in association with the Providence and the North Shore Chapters. 
The competition showcases students’ skills in operations and supply chain management to prospective employers, the community, and their peers and mentors at Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I. During the student case competition, participant teams find solutions using their operations and supply chain management knowledge to solve a real-world problem.
 “The APICS Northeast District Student Case Competition aims to call attention to the most skilled and knowledgeable students in operations and supply chain management programs in the area,” said Mark Chockalingam, President of the Boston Chapter. “We are pleased to provide this opportunity. These students represent the future of our profession and we look forward to mentoring them as they pursue career success.”
 “This is a tremendous opportunity for my team and for all of the participants in the APICS Northeast District Student Case Competition,” said Mikalai Makaranka of the Boston University team which won the Graduate competition. “We are honored to have been selected as winners in this competition.”
The undergraduate first place winning team was one of the Northeastern University’s teams, featuring operations management students Raymond Kinnunen, Dana Lauro, Nicholas Sammut, Andrew Rothbaum, and Michael Hitchcock. The second and third place teams represented Boston University and Northeastern University. Other schools with winning teams include Quinnipiac University and Roger Williams University.

The graduate first place winning team was from the Boston University School of Management, including Mikalai Makaranka, Kelly Hwang, Jose Gonzalez Franco, and Catherine Weisbeck. The second and third place teams represented the Boston University School of Management and Bryant University. Other schools with winning teams include Northeastern University.
 
The competition was financially supported by the organizing Chapters of Boston, Prividence and North Shore and through sponsorships from Boston Stratagies International, the APICS Educational and Research Foundation and the APICS Northeast District along with several of the New England Chapters.
